The game of poker involves betting over a series of rounds until one player makes a 5-card poker hand and wins the pot. Once all the players have 2 cards they can either call, raise or fold their hands. A player can also draw replacement cards to their hands depending on the rules of the game.

After the first betting round is complete the dealer deals two more cards face up on the table. These are community cards that everyone can use. This is called the flop.

Once the flop is dealt you have 7 cards total to create your best five-card poker hand. This is comprised of the 2 cards in your hand and the 5 community cards on the table. If you have a good starting hand like pocket pairs, high-card combinations or suited connectors then you are in great shape to win the pot. However, if you have a weak hand and are in a bad position then you will likely need to fold.
